What We Do
As a Network of Churches We Have Organized Into The York Baptist Association
The York Baptist Association has been in existence since 1868 and is a 501(c)3 Religious Non-Profit organization designed to assist our member churches with strategic connection, collaboration, coaching, consultation, leadership development, multiplication and community ministry.
The churches meet "in session" three times a year by sending their representatives (called Messengers) to an Annual Session in October where the staff, committees and teams give a report of the progress of the previous year, an agenda for the coming year is formed, and an annual budget is approved. The Executive Committee meetings in March and August over see the agenda set by the Annual Session and make any needed adjustments and recommendations to the following Annual Session.
There are three major areas of strategic focus for the Association:
Leadership Development for our pastors. We believe healthy leaders will result in healthy, multiplying churches that will advance the Kingdom of God. We provide leadership development training, scholarships to leadership conferences and coaching, mentoring and counsel to our pastors.
Church Strengthening. We provide administrative, program and ministry leadership with training, coaching and consulting that is designed to help our churches become more effective in disciple making and ministry and revitalization.
Kingdom Advance. Jesus Christ has called every one of His followers to join Him in His Great Commission. He declared that He would accomplish His Great Commission through His Church. Therefore, the major focus for the York Baptist Association, the reason we exist, is to help our churches fulfill their vision for advancing the Great Commission. We do this by assisting them as they seek to accomplish local and global missions, community ministry and church multiplication. The Kingdom Advance Team looks for ways to encourage and assist our churches to collaborate together in mission and ministry initiatives in the York County area and beyond.
As a Fellowship of Pastors we provide our pastors with opportunities for fellowship, collaboration, prayer groups and coaching. Our pastors need encouragement and support. Pastors are on call 24-7 and carry the burden of their people and the lost community. The late Peter Drucker, leadership guru for Fortune 100 companies said that " the three most difficult jobs in America are the President of the United states, the president of a University or Hospital and the Pastor of a local church"! The York Baptist Association staff and leadership are here to support and encourage our pastors.
The most important asset we have as an Network of Churches is each other, second to that is our York Baptist Association Staff that serves our churches, pastors and church leaders. Each one of our staff members bring valuable experience, training and expertise to our churches. Meet your YBA Staff HERE...
Everything we do as an Association is for the purpose of helping our churches to fulfill the Great Commission...
Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, the the very end of the age."- Mathew 28:16-20
"What is the greatest commandment? To love the Lord your God with all of you heart, mind body and strength. The second is like unto it, to love your neighbor as yourself" -Jesus Christ
