Who We Are
We are your neighbors and co-workers. Our children play together. We have the same concerns that you have. We gather together in our church buildings to worship, study the Bible, fellowship and do ministry because we have had a personal experience with Jesus Christ that transformed our lives and made them complete.
About one out of twelve people in the York County, SC area attend one of our churches.
The York Baptist Association is a network of neighborhood or community churches and a fellowship of pastors. Each of our 80 plus churches have a unique culture, style of worship, and congregational composition. Our churches are completely autonomous from each other yet are bonded together by our faith in Jesus Christ, our trust in the Bible and our belief that we should cooperate together to take the Gospel across the street and around the world.
"Gospel" ... The word gospel comes from the Old English god meaning "good" and spel meaning "news, a story." In Christianity, the term "good news" refers to the story of Jesus Christ's birth, death, and resurrection that provides the way for sinners to be redeemed and accepted into the family of God.
Jesus challenges people to “repent, and believe the gospel.” Jesus proclaims “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is near.” That core announcement — “It's time, and God is breaking into the world” — that is the core of Jesus' own gospel.
As a network of churches and a fellowship of pastors:
We value the experience of God's presence in everyday life.
We value the authority of the Bible as God's word.
We value the expansion of God's kingdom on this earth.
We value cooperating in ministry locally and globally.
We value unity in our diversity.
We value growth as disciples of Jesus Christ.
We value the freedom of a diversity of worship as autonomous churches.
We value the strength that comes when cooperating with each other and other like minded bodies of Believers in Christ.
We believe every life is precious to God and that He wants to have a close personal relationship with everyone.
Jesus said," For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life" -John 3:16
To Cooperate together to fulfill the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ
To provide resources and opportunities for our churches to be on mission with God until every man, woman, boy and girl hears and understands the Gospel of Jesus Christ
